Mischievous Mia

Once upon a time there was a teenager named Mia, who was sixteen years old. She could be trusted by everyone even if put in the worst situations, you could trust her to make the correct decision. At least, that’s what it seemed like to everyone. One day when Mia was sitting in her room thinking a troublesome thought came across her mind. She began to think that if everyone trusted her and especially her parents then she could get away with doing things that she wouldn’t be allowed to do. Mia decided that her life was really boring and that she wants to go out more. Since her parents trusted her to go out and tell them exactly where she is going, Mia told herself that she would begin to lie to them and she would never be found out.   The day came when there was a huge party that Mia really wanted to go to with her best friend Lisa. Mia knew her parents would agree to let her go, but they would have her come home early and they would tell her to call a lot so that they can make sure she is okay and not in a bad environment. Two days before the party, Mia went to her parents and told them that on Friday she will go to Lisa’s house for a sleepover.   “Mom and dad can i go over to Lisa’s house on Friday? She wants me to go and             sleepover. We are going to party on our own and have fun!”   So her parents told her, “Of course you can go. But be sure to stay home at her house.”   “Okay, don’t worry we won’t be leaving her house.”...

Lying Lia

By: Maryam Adly Once upon a time, there lived a thirteen year old with her parents names Lia. She hated the freedom they didn’t really give her. Yes she was well aware of that they want the best for her and that if they could, they’d do anything to satisfy her, because according to what they always say, she’s the most important thing in their lives. There came that time of her life when she wanted to go out so bad, and it was actually a long time since she last did. So she went to them politely and asked them if she can go to her best friend Katy’s Funky Fourteen. They kept asking about details about that birthday party and she told them everything in full detail. “The birthday is next Thursday; it starts at 7.30 and ends at 12. It’s a formal birthday, in her house, and the entire grade is invited. Can I please please go?” Lia told them. They then disagreed and told her she can’t go because finals are soon and that she needs to stay home that day to study for the exam of the following day. “But dad.. She’s my best friend; I can’t just miss her birthday” “Don’t worry dear, she’ll understand. My decision is final and I’m not getting back on my word. Now go to your room and start studying for exams” Lia started crying and went straight to her room, sat down on the bed and grabbed her phone from the side table. She dialed Katy’s number and told her she won’t be able to make it to her birthday. “WHAT?” Katy asked in disbelief. “I can’t believe you won’t come to my birthday. Way to be a best friend, Lia” “I’m...
